Emerging Technology Insight Lead
The Emerging Technology Insight Lead is responsible for developing the emerging channels strategy and overseeing the three year development and implementation roadmap of key innovation initiatives that advance the strategic goals of Verizon Wireless – driving self-service and revenue impacting improvements with an aggressive target of identifying $1B in opportunity annually. This involves identifying and evaluating new and emerging technology and their application, as well as the application of established technologies new to Verizon Wireless. It requires the ability to develop projects from the conceptual stage, including proof of concept and commercial model assessment, as well as assisting a smooth transition through the project life-cycle. To be successful, the individual will need to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead through influence. Additional responsibilities include:
• Establish an approach for identifying and assessing new and emerging technologies, including arranging vendor exploratory meetings, facilitating demos and expert presentations.
• Ability to create form, structure, process and logical testing and development plans for exploratory projects, and proof-of-concepts with multiple possibilities for application.
• Demonstrate strategic insight to develop long term execution plans. Establish and own a long term 3 year “road map” that defines the set of initiatives to achieve key performance indicators.
• Manage multiple projects in simultaneous stages of evaluation, engaging and driving cross-functional teams and managing external consultants and contractors.
• Facilitate the determination of KPI and success benchmarks. Implement enterprise level measurement, analytics, and reporting methods to gauge success.
• Promote the “art of possible” – provide a holistic view, connecting the dots for stakeholders from conceptualization to the realization of benefits.
• Strong business development background, understanding how to bring new and innovative technologies to market.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. Act as communication conduit to executive sponsors and stakeholders.
• Serve as a thought partner. Proactively sharing best practices clearly and succinctly across the organization. Create a concise articulation of the emerging channels strategy that can be shared throughout the organization to drive shared perspective and focus.
• Effectively communicate complex, technical theory and information in an understandable manner with peers and senior level leaders.
• Ability to work progressively with a wide range of individual levels, sponsors, stakeholders and resources.
• Effectively understand and engage broader business strategy, work with key department leaders and stakeholders and align activities and initiatives.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and evolve ideas that align with organizational goals and consumers’ needs.
• Work with internal and external partners, including executive level management to gain buy-in and drive initiatives through to execution.
• Apply market research and development methods to learn and understand emerging trends and technology. Synthesize this with competitive intelligence to drive recommendations and motivate action - nimbly testing, learning, validating and executing.
• Develop business cases to validate the commercial benefit, including conceptualizing and promoting high-level business benefits. Engage appropriate teams for research and testing, as well as contributing stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support.
• Solid practical experience dealing with project management, particularly dealing with the implementation of new technology and or ways of doing things.
• Results driven and confident individual who places communication as a top priority.

• BS/BA degree with 10+ years of experience in technology, marketing, or digital commerce.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical background with advanced computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Aptitude to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Exceptional leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills.
